My name is Kristin Kaisler and I am in love with food!  I’m a fan of anything savory, sweet and boozy.  I had a vision for this blog, to share great food and to share my experiences with such foods!  Then I received the heart breaking news that I had celiac disease.  I went through the 7 stages of loss over all of my favorite gluten dishes.  At first I said it couldn’t be real, being half Italian certainly would mean I am immune to such a disease.  Who ever heard of an Italian that couldn’t eat pasta?  I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs!  I felt that all my hopes and dreams for this blog had died.  Then I picked myself up off the floor, wiped my tears and knew that this is the time I desperately needed everything savory, sweet and boozy.  It just now also needs to be gluten free.

I am just starting out on this journey.  I’ve stood in the baked good isle just trying to wrap my head around how many different flours I can use without gluten.  I’ve already made some really horrible purchases of products that just made me want to cry from tastelessness, textures and density.  It’s a bit intimidating to figure out where to start and how to move forward.  I hope you’ll enjoy taking this journey with me.  Please share your own wisdom in the comments.  Let’s mourn the loss of our delicious old friend gluten, reach for our much needed booze when our friends are chowing down on burgers and pizza and move to a new level of food, which will certainly satisfy all of our cravings as foodies!  We deserve great food and to wash it down with a little booze.
